The F means Flattop, and the F marked FSB goes with upper receivers that have a piccatinny section instead of a fixed carry handle. If you have a fixed carry handle that is built into the receiver, you need a non F marked FSB. F marked sit slightly lower, so you will need to really crank the front post down.
