Mileage improved a little and I have never reset my 2nd mileage meter which reads 16.2 mpg for the average life of the truck with say 55% city and 35% highway and 10% towing. Unless you want to travel everywhere at 10 mph, you will need tunes and all the other parts before you delete. First you will need to find someone with a modified ecm. The encryption in the stock ecm is coded in the hardware and will not accept an unauthorized reprogram. Then you will need a tuner and tunes. The L5p was a very small exhaust side configuration, small up pipes, small exhaust turbo vanes, etc. So I am guessing the ECM was seeing some very high EGT’s and cut power to keep from melting pistons.
