I picked up my new Mathews Phase 4 29" on Monday. I went into my local shop and shot the Phase 4 29/33 and the VTM 31. The draw cycle seemed a touch better on the VTM but the back wall and hold felt incredible on the Phase 4's. I bumped up from 60# to 70# so I didn't hold the draw cycle of the Mathews against it.Two rotating modules cover the full draw-length range while maintaining optimum performance at every draw length. On the VTM 31, the mods cover a draw-length range from 25-30 inches, in half-inch increments, while the same modules on the VTM 34 cover a draw-length range of 26-31 inches. Hoyt advertises IBO arrow speeds of 342 fps …That said, after shooting the EC2 cams for a week or so now, it makes the switchweight draw cycle feel like you are stuck in the mud. It felt a little top heavy, not crazy but kind of noticeable and could've used a back bar. Hoyt has quite a few compound bows that go for close to $2,000, but they also have a few that price at less than $500. As for Mathews, their lowest-priced bow for 2019 is still above $800. For those willing to spend some serious cash on a quality bow, $800 isn’t a huge sacrifice.

The cam systemis the biggest difference.I had just sold a ventum 33 and wanted to try a different brand than hoyt. My ventum 33 was pretty dead also so I imagine the VTM will be close to the phase 4. Draw cycle on the HBX cam was better than the mathews..
